Carovana091 is a non-profit cultural association based in Locarno. The association aims to promote contemporary, experimental and improvised music, and to create sustainable structures for its production, presentation and mediation in the Canton of Ticino. Carovana091 sees itself as a platform for artists, organizers and audiences.

In addition to organizing a concert series, the association initiates complementary activities such as workshops, collective improvisation formats and participatory projects, fostering exchange between artists and the public and contributing to cultural education.

Frequenze Libere is a concert series dedicated to free improvisation and experimental music, established in Locarno. The project creates a continuous space for performance and encounter for musical practices that move beyond conventional genre boundaries and are rarely represented within mainstream concert programming.

The series presents concerts featuring professional musicians from Switzerland and the international scene, positioning itself as a platform for artistic research and high-level improvisational practice. At its core are spontaneous composition, experimental approaches and an open, interdisciplinary working method that emphasizes the artistic process as much as the performance outcome.

Through Frequenze Libere and its additional activities, Carovana091 makes a lasting contribution to the cultural diversity and development of the region, strengthens Locarno as a site of contemporary music production, and fosters artistic dialogue at the local, national and international levels.
