Carovana091 is an association, based in Locarno, where artists, musicians, poets and experimenters can share their visions, giving life to a path of creativity and exchange.

Carovana091 was born as CircoRu in 2013. Since then the association has always offered a rich cultural discourse with activities focused on improvised, experimental and contemporary music.

In 2021 the CircoRu association changed its name, reorganized the committee by acquiring new members and resuming its activities after the pause in 2020 due to the Covid19 pandemic.

Its main activity is the organization of the Free Frequencies Review(previously: Music Festival in the Present), a series of improvised music concerts. In addition to this, Carovana091 offers a space to explore and discuss improvised music, theater and art in workshops and regular events in Locarno.

Carovana091 also supports the Ensemble Sous-sol, a group of amateur and professional musicians who study and deepen improvisation for extended ensembles, without a conductor and in the absence of predefined structures or conceptual paths.
