“AIR PRESSURE” – Philip Samartzis & Michael Vorfeld

Sun 18 Oct

|

Spazio Elle, Locarno

Air Pressure is a live performance born from the dialogue between field recordings from Antarctica and experimental performance practices. The duo explores the physical presence of air, pressure, vibration, and resonance. The result is an improvised exchange between site-related sound materials and live gestures, through which environmental recordings are transformed into a dynamic and spatial sonic experience.

Descrizione

Philip Samartzis — field recordings & live electronics

Michael Vorfeld — percussion & self-designed string instrument

Air Pressure is a live performance born from the dialogue between environmental recordings made in Antarctica and experimental performance practices. The duo explores the physical presence of air, pressure, vibration, and resonance.

The work unfolds as an improvised exchange between site-related sonic material and live gestures, transforming environmental recordings into a dynamic and spatial sonic experience. Rather than representing Antarctica, Air Pressure foregrounds elemental forces such as wind, instability, and acoustic resistance, inviting the audience to perceive the continent as an active sonic presence.
