Alice Trost SOLO

Alice Trost writes, plays and improvises music, mostly with viola, often with electronics, sometimes with body, voice, light, effects or objects, always in relation to specific spaces.

Much of her work grows out of collective and experimental processes (Kulturbrauerei Luzern, Semblance, Gelbes Haus, Mutual Support, and the duo with Silvan Koch). Here, however, Alice sets off alone; into the dark, curious, playful and confused corners of shared perception, down the rabbit hole, into the primordial soup, delicate ramifications, a rasping crawl onwards, double bottoms, mirrored questions, gentle floating, moments of stillness, sweat beneath the fingertips.

A tender diving down, intuitive abstraction: structures emerge and dissolve again, intertwine and span arcs from here to beneath the skin.

Nora Vetter is a contemporary music performer, improviser, composer and curator. She studied Contemporary Music Performance at Zone Exéprimentale Basel and is part of Kulturbrauerei Kollektiv, Semblance [FR], sonic space basel, mutual support duo, Gelbes Haus Luzern, Forum Neue Musik Luzern and the Echolot Festival Kollektiv.

Much of her work is developed site-specifically and performer-specifically, in close relation to the history and context of spaces and the people involved. Collaborations with visual artists such as Katrin Keller and Pia Matthes, the collective development and creation of performative interventions, and long-term relationships with creators from different fields are central to her practice.

Nora understands her work as creating and nurturing a network of cooperation and mutual support for creativity, ranging from individual instrumentalists and friends to institutions and DIY organisations.

Nora performs in a wide variety of settings: art exhibitions, solo and group improvisations, experimental and classical contemporary music, pop and jazz, theatre, mixed-media projects, and everything in between.

Alice Trost is her solo project, in which she expands the possibilities of the viola through analogue and digital means.
