Francesco Giudici Solo

Francesco Giudici is a Swiss musician and composer from Chiasso. With electric guitar, objects, and electronics, he creates minimalist soundscapes that evoke cinematic and emotionally ambivalent atmospheres.

He writes and improvises music using electric guitar alongside objects (shells, hammers) and electronic instruments (synthesizers, e-bow). A minimalist approach and a constant reflection on the complex relationships between music and time form the basis of his sound research.

Environments and textures emerge from monotonal guitar lines that are then processed, synthesized, and layered. The resulting atmospheres are highly cinematic and image-evoking, connected to past or future memories — both individual and collective.

Cyclical arpeggios, fractured distortions, hypnotic tinkling, dreamlike and melancholic landscapes, desert and frontier-like chords accompanied by long, timeless drones define his sonic language.

Bio

Francesco Giudici (1980) is a musician and composer based in Chiasso (Switzerland). His recent works include [No] Surrender (with Simon Grab, -OUS, 2022) and MascettiNoise (with Daniel Drabek, EEEE, 2023). He has performed at leading Swiss festivals and venues dedicated to experimental music such as Klang Moor Schopfe, FOG, La Tour Vagabonde, Floating Notes, RöstiBrücke, IGNM, Label Suisse, and VideoEx, as well as in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Italy.

In 2023 he undertook a research trip to Denmark with artist Aline d’Auria, his partner in life and art. In 2024 he contributed to Zukunftmusik (SUISA 100 years) and received a creation grant from the Canton of Ticino. Co-founder of the association Grande Velocità, he has founded and directed the biennial festival Chiasso means noise since 2023.
