Strotter + Rotzler treat their instruments as bodies and objects, generating a continuous sonic flow that carries both performers and audience. Double bass and turntable are used non-conventionally and shaped through sonic research into layered, meandering textures.

Sebastian Rotzler — double bass
Strotter Inst. — turntable
Strotter Inst. and Sebastian Rotzler perform their instruments as both bodies and objects, generating a continuous sonic flow that carries both musicians and listeners along with it.
Neither the double bass nor the turntable is used primarily according to conventional sound-production techniques. Instead, both musicians draw on long-term sonic research, shaping a layered acoustic landscape that unfolds slowly through constantly evolving textures.
Strotter Inst.
Strotter Inst. generates dense sonic and rhythmic structures from prepared turntables. Its musical spectrum ranges from extended noise landscapes to compact polyrhythmic eruptions.
These anachronistic, object-like sound bodies create a dual perceptual level: the installation initially strikes the viewer visually, but as the performance develops, sound gradually takes over attention, leading into a second dimension — that of deep listening.

Sebastian Rotzler
Sebastian Rotzler treats the double bass as both body and sonic object. By carefully listening to its resonances, he develops musical lines that weave together classical techniques, preparations, and experimental practices.
An attitude of research and immediate creation within the open territory of musical experimentation becomes an amalgam of listening, in which both audience and performer inhabit the sound itself.
