Double bassist, composer, curator – sound with substance and soul.

Born in 1975 in Chur, Switzerland, Luca Sisera completed a double degree in Jazz Performance and Music Education at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Over the past twenty years, he has established himself as a sought-after bassist in the jazz and improvisation scenes.
Sisera is much more than a performer: he is a creator of sonic spaces and encounters. His music effortlessly navigates between composition and improvisation, acoustic jazz, and interdisciplinary forms. With his quintet “ROOFER,” he has formed an internationally recognized band that explores stylistic boundaries and performs on prominent stages across Europe and worldwide.
Beyond being a dedicated musician, Luca Sisera is above all a person of strong values. His work is shaped by fairness, equal opportunity, responsibility, and sustainable collaboration—principles he truly lives by. Despite his consistent approach, Luca is an exceptionally approachable and warm personality, whose presence enriches every musical and interpersonal encounter. As founder and curator of the “Jazz Linard” festival, co-creator of “JazzChur,” member of the cultural commission of the canton of Lucerne, and artistic co-director of the Swiss jazz label Unit Records, he demonstrates that artistic excellence and social engagement go hand in hand.
His projects stand for continuity—not repetition, but a persistent inner drive. Each new work builds on previous experiences, opens new spaces, and focuses on what truly matters: the expression of sound as a connecting element between people and ideas. His orchestral work “CLAZZ” (2022/23), which merges jazz and classical worlds, is a testament to his stylistic breadth and deep roots.
On stage, Luca Sisera gives 100 percent. His approach is intelligent and clear, his presence calm yet powerful. Although capable of all technical and stylistic nuances, his underlying tone remains: open, genuine, and consistent.
He reaches audiences, fellow musicians, and the scene not only through sound but through resonance. His projects are deeply grounded in the present moment and real-world experiences.. He opens doors, encourages, and inspires.
With Luca Sisera, Carovana 091 has found the ideal partner to support the large ensemble Sous-sols & Friends in working on the score for Sound the Alarm. With his know-how and sensitivity, he brings a powerful and moving interpretation of this project to the stage in Locarno—one that shakes and deeply moves.
