BIO
Daniel Cabanzo (Colombia, born in 1979) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores various forms of artistic expression. After studying music at the Universidad del Valle in Cali (Colombia), he moved to France in 2006 to continue his training in composition.
He obtained a Master’s degree in Music Applied to Visual Arts at Université Lumière Lyon 2 and a Master’s degree in Acousmatic Music and Sound Arts at INA-GRM and Université Paris-Est. In 2013, he continued his studies at the Haute École de Musique de Genève, where he further developed his interest in new musical technologies. In 2014, he obtained the Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Musicien (DNSPM) in composition at the PSPBB.
Winner of the Cergy-Pontoise Composition Prize and the Roux et Tronchet Prize awarded by the Académie des Beaux-Arts de France, in 2014 he also received a SACEM scholarship to attend the IRCAM Cursus in Composition and Computer Music. In 2015, he took part in the IRCAM Manifeste Academy as part of the In Vivo Electro workshop. The following year, he collaborated with Le Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains for Panorama 18.
In 2018, he won the Ibermúsicas programme with the DME Festival (Portugal) and was an artist in residence at the Académie Musicale de Villecroze. In 2019, his work Electronic Introspections I for piano and electronic device was broadcast by Radio France as part of the programme Alla Breve.
In 2021, he undertook a residency at the Fondation Royaumont with the project Pulse for the microtonal accordion ensemble XAMP, and subsequently took part in the ARCO residency at GMEM in Marseille with Ensemble Multilatérale and TANA Quartet.
Since 2023, he has been working in Switzerland as a sound engineer and sound diffusion manager for the dance and multimedia project ThREEÂ by Compagnie Glitch, while continuing his work in sound design, live mixing, and technical direction for various musical groups.
Since 2025, he has been permanently based in Switzerland, where he is a member of the Locarno-based free improvisation collective Sous-Sol as an instrumentalist.
